Why do some Ebay Powersellers seems to always have a ton of bids and sell their items for higher. You watch their items and even use Ebay’s free tools to try to get an insight into why they seems to dominate the category that you are in. You’re losing money and you need to turn the ship around, fast.

What would happen if you got 3 times as much traffic to your auction listings? Of course you would sell more items and get more customers. So why don’t you go find those new customers that are not on Ebay yet? By starting a simple blog about the items you sell, you will reach a much larger audience then just the Ebay crowd… Not to mention that Ebay’s traffic is on decline.

Benefits of blogging about your Auctions

  1. Better search engine visibility – You will have much better results in Google, Yahoo and MSN becuase you can control the keywords and SEO for your auctions. Ebay has really bad SEO for your items. All you have to do it start a blog and you will be able to get organic traffic from the search engines to your auctions.
  2. You can sell directly from your blog – My blog of choice is wordpress which comes with many free plugins that allow you to run an ecommerce store from your blog, or even auction off your items from your blog.
  3. Everything you write on your blog can be syndicated to other social media sites that have lots of people on them. Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc… can all automatically get your blog posts and reach even more people.
  4. You build your brand – this is probably the most important aspect of blogging, because you can get a large following and create authority. The more you demonstrate your expertise about the products you sell, the more people will trust they are buying from a reputable seller.

As you see by starting a blog has many benefits. Not only from a “buy it now” point of view, but also for long term selling relationships. It is a known fact that it costs many times more to secure a first time customer then it is to maintain a repeat buyer.

If you are new to blogging, you really need to learn how to do it. It’s not that hard, and it’s really similar to writing an email. The really cool thing about blogging your ebay Ebay items is that you can get good search engine placement for you products, meaning when someone searches for your products you have a better chance of getting found. They won’t find you Ebay auctions, but they will find your blog and then you can either guide them to your Ebay auctions, or better yet, sell to them directly from your website.

where can you start a blog?

  1. Blogging community built around Ebay – For example, dailyebaytip.com We have free blogs that are built around selling on Ebay. you can list your items directly on the blog, start an e-commerce shopping cart, and maintain your brand because you control the colors, images, and layouts on your website. You can even add your own domain name. For more information or to start now, click here.
  2. Start your own self hosted blog. This involves starting a hosting account and then installing blogging software. You will have much more control over a self hosted blog, and you can use the hosting account to store images of your products.
  3. use a community blog site like wordpress.com, blogger.com, etc… Very easy to set up and blog, but you find it very difficult to highlight your active listings on these types of blogs. We recommend that if you go with a community blog platform, you should go with one that is focused primarily on Ebay blogging.

In Summary, blogging is an easy and fun way to create authority and expertise about your products or services. You’ll get more traffic from search engines and other social media sites. In return the more traffic you generate to your auctions the more items you will sell, guaranteed!
